A comforting and flavorful dish of ground beef and tender potatoes, perfect for weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 medium potatoes, diced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 inch ginger, grated
  • 2 tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 green chili, chopped (optional)
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp cooking oil
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them sizzle to release their earthy aroma.
  2. Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
  3. Stir in the minced garlic and grated ginger; cook for another minute.
  4. Add the ground beef and cook until browned.
  5. Mix in the chopped tomatoes and optional green chili; cook until tomatoes are softened.
  6. Add diced potatoes, coriander powder, garam masala, and salt.
  7. Pour in enough water to cover the mixture, bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low.
  8. Cover and simmer until potatoes are tender, about 20-25 minutes.
  9. Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve with rice or naan.

Notes

This dish can be prepared a day in advance for enhanced flavors. Use waxy or starchy potatoes based on texture preference.
