Delicious bites of water chestnuts wrapped in crispy bacon, glazed with a sweet and savory mixture.

Ingredients

  • 12 oz water chestnuts (canned or fresh)
  • 12 oz bacon (sliced into halves)
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Wrap each water chestnut piece with a half slice of bacon and secure it with a toothpick.
  3. Mix brown sugar, soy sauce, garlic powder, and black pepper in a bowl until the sugar dissolves.
  4. Assemble the wrapped water chestnuts in a baking dish and pour the glaze over them.
  5. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until bacon is crispy.
  6. Serve warm as an appetizer, optionally garnished with sesame seeds or green onions.

Notes

For a spicier version, add hot sauce to the glaze. Thinly sliced bacon works best for crispiness.
